It's probably a few villagers making a fuss . Not in my backyard brigade. I 100% Support the Totnes Pride festival, Organisers & all that attend and enjoy the moment. Most of the homes in Totnes are probably 2nd homes and the Home owners from the Home counties originally, Like Essex or Kent etc?.
