OpenAI data breach strengthens Australian data centre push

Australia's major political parties agreed on September 27–28, 2026, that an OpenAI breach of Medicare data demonstrates the urgency of securing national data centres to give Australia "a seat at the AI table." Labor and Coalition both cited the incident to support rolling out data centre infrastructure nationally.
