Pope warns artificial intelligence must serve humanity, not dominate

Pope Leo XIV warned on September 25–26, 2026, that artificial intelligence must remain subordinate to human values and must not become an instrument of domination or injustice. The pontiff, who has made AI a central focus of his papacy, delivered the message at UNESCO during his visit to France.
