A refrigerator is a big insulated box, with a coil for refrigerant fluid, and a compressor. There is zero need for ANY software. Personal note: Samsung/LG are some of the worse if not THE worst offenders of shitty quality stuff dressed up with dumb vanity gadgets in detriment of their intended function. The basic functions of any non-software device should (MUST, imo) remain unaffected by anything related to software. Refrigerators must keep items cold or frozen. Vehicles must remain safely and legally driveable and securable. HVAC systems must continue to maintain set temperatures. Energy storage tools must be able to charge and discharge manually.
