Manchester police failed to check synagogue attacker's phones before assault

Greater Manchester Police apologised on 23 July 2026 for failing to review devices belonging to Jihad Al-Shamie despite arresting him twice before he attacked a synagogue. The phone review failure missed an opportunity to prevent the attack.
