Last remaining 9/11 responder still serves at NYC firehouse

On September 9, 2026—25 years after the attacks—Sal Argano remains the last firefighter on staff at the firehouse that first responded to the World Trade Center collapse. The station, located across from the attack site, has become a pilgrimage stop for visitors commemorating the nearly 3,000 lives lost.
