57 migrants die in rush to Spain's Ceuta enclave; mass return follows

At least 57 migrants died during a mass crossing from Morocco to Ceuta on July 31–August 1, 2026, when around 50,000 people surged across the border in a single day. Spanish authorities reported approximately 48,300 had returned by Friday evening as the crisis unfolded.
