U.S. military develops cheaper alternatives to Patriot air-defense systems

As of July 30, 2026, the U.S. military is accelerating development of lower-cost anti-ballistic weapons to break the Patriot monopoly that has dominated the market for years. Officials aim to deploy these alternatives in combat by year-end 2026.
