Mohammad Sharifullah, 28, an Islamic State group member, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on September 16–17, 2026, for aiding the terrorist organization behind the August 2021 Abbey Gate suicide bombing at Kabul airport that killed 13 U.S. service members. A jury convicted him of supporting ISIS-K despite splitting on direct culpability for the attack.
